Insist upon Joy
Joy matters. It fuels us, keeps us open to possibility, and acts as a cushion in hard times. Choosing joy is not about ignoring challenges—it’s about refusing to let them define us.
Joy can even be an act of resistance.
If something is stealing your joy today, take it back. Find something to celebrate, someone to love, something beautiful to focus on. Joy isn’t passive; it’s a choice.
Try the practice below and see how it shifts your energy, your leadership, and the people around you.
Practice: Celebrate for No Reason
Not feeling particularly joyful? That’s when you need it the most. Joy isn’t just a reaction—it’s a practice. And even when life feels heavy, small acts of joy can shift our mindset and energy.
Here are a few ways to celebrate for no reason at all:
Easy: Notice something beautiful or funny—pause and truly appreciate it. Bonus: capture the moment by writing it down, taking a photo, or sharing it with someone.
Challenging: Reach out to someone you love and celebrate with them. A simple message or kind word can brighten both your day and theirs.
Advanced: Set a timer for five minutes and jump, dance, or cheer non-stop. Yes, you might feel ridiculous—but I promise, it will shift your energy!
The less you feel like celebrating, the more you need this. So, let’s choose joy together. What’s one small way you’ll celebrate today?
